MEASURING YOUR FOOT

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
Start at the heel.
Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
Don't draw under the foot.

Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

More Comfort for Barefoot Shoes

I've worn barefoot for a few years now and had no issues, but started a new job recently where I'm walking and standing on hard surfaces for 8 hours every day and the heels of my feet have started to really hurt. I've also experienced pain on long walks for 7+ hours or 20,000 steps. Instead of buying new shoes I'm trying these out and so far they're instantly more comfortable and that hard surface feel on my heels has almost gone. There's just enough cushion to make a difference, it's not extremely padded, but it's definitely something there to take the edge off whilst still retaining that barefoot feel. Seems counter intuitive to use insoles like this which add slight drop and support to your feet, but I think it's necessary when you're on such hard, artificial surfaces for long periods of time!

Ortholite comfort!!!

I thought I'd try the Ortholite insole as I'm on my feet all day, as a postie and I wondered how much difference the 6mm would feel; feels great!! A little more cushiony comfort, but still gives me that fab barefoot experience!!!
