Up until now I have only used Xero Mesa as barefoot shoes for trail/ fell running which I love

Up until now I have only used Xero Mesa as barefoot shoes for trail/ fell running which I love, thought I'd try the Freet as they are a UK brand.

Overall the Freet great shoes. Used them for a few months so far, in the Peak District and the Lakes.

Comfortable, flexible and good balance of protection and ground feel. good grip in mud and on rocks. Toe box wide and good at protecting toes against stubbing. Also drain water well.

Good quality, no complaints so far.

Main issue is the height of the shoe around the ankles. They are a bit high and stiff and rub the bottom of the ankle, especially on the outside of the foot. Caused rubbing and blisters after a 2 day running event on steeper terrain. Never had any blisters or soreness with the Xero's even on a 75km run.

If the cut of the ankle surround was lower and less stiff these shoes would be perfect.

Light, flexible and grippy

Had some good mountain and hill walks in my Calver 2s and have found that they are truly light, flexible and grippy. I haven't slipped yet on any surface and the tread on them not only is helping with this but does give some excellent cushioning on those scree surfaces without losing the barefoot feel. For someone who is used to blisters forming with most shoes it's been a joy to not have any so far.
Will now see how they cope with an 80 miler!

Great shoes - slightly uncomfortable fitting

Great shoes. Unfortunately, for me personally, the outer edge of the shoes pressed in on my ankle bone. This may just be me, but it took a while for the right shoe to adjust, and I'm still waiting for the left shoe to adjust. It's painful, but ultimately I think it will be okay.
