This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Good, but was expecting more.

Long term review. Benen using these a lot during the last 6 months. At after breaking in they were the best boots ive ever had, comfortable, spacious, light, stylish! The problem is that the sole glueing started coming loose after only a few months, especially the crease point by the big toe joint seems to be a weak area. With gaps between the sole and the leather the waterproofing is entirely gone, and with the "waterproof" membrane wet they take ages to dry. Will be buying some other pair of boots next time, but if the waterproofing is not a big selling point and you dont mind repairing your shoe every couple of months these are great!

excellent walking boots

Very comfortable and no breaking in needed. Very pleased with quality and fit, and feel far more stable than traditional boots with a thicker sole (I have a tendency to turn and sprain my ankle).

New barefoot walking boots

I’ve replaced my non barefoot leather and gortex walking boots with these Freets. They’re extremely comfortable and worked really well on a reasonably long walk (8 mile walk).

I started wearing barefoot shoes December 2024 so I’ve fully transitioned now and these were my final purchase to fully replace my old uncomfortable footwear with barefoot. Very happy with the ordering and the speed of dispatch and delivery.

Surpassed expectation

I bought these because I have wide feet and needed a comfortable pair of walking shoes even wider than the Keens I'd been wearing for years. I expected the Mudees to be comfortable, but I didn't realize how much more I would like walking in shoes where I can actually feel the ground beneath my feet. I bought insoles to put inside them as I thought I'd want the extra thickness, but I don't use them. Also the both the soles and leather uppers are very supple. A revelation.
