Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

The Only Shoes I Need

This is my 4th pair of Freet Feldoms. They are more or less the only shoes I wear. If I go for a walk in the mountains, I wear them. If I go sledging in the snow, I wear them (with waterproof socks). I wear them at work and around town. They are very comfortable and I love the way the sole works on most kinds of surfaces. They are almost perfect! On average, a pair lasts me about a year before I wear them out. I find it reasonable, considering that I wear them every day and they are very reasonably priced (especially when they are on offer). My family aren't great fans of the style, but I like them. Given that a lot of the shoe is mesh, they don't dry quite as quickly as I had hoped, but I don't know if there are non-sandal shoes that dry any quicker. Whenever I've had contact with the folk at Freet, they have been very helpful and friendly.

I’ve had these shoes for over five years and have bought another pair because they’re so good

I’ve had these shoes for over five years and have bought another pair because they’re so good. I use them for running through the forest and even on asphalt during winter. They’re also great for hiking and have excellent traction on wet river rocks.

Summer Hiking shoe

Some would argue I have a freet problem seeing these are the 6th Pair I have bought in 5 years but my reply is if it works, the don't fix it!

As suggested these are intended to be my hot weather hiking shoes when breathability is key. So far on lighter hikes they have performed, giving good grip, decent ventilation and of course that ground feel I get from all of my shoes.
