This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

I bought these shoes specifically for a Spartan Super Race and they performed without fail straight out of the box. They stayed on in the mud and water. Never slipped or lost traction do to the aggressive tread. No blisters or hot spots during the 6 miles. Love these shoes. Freet has done it again. I'll recommend these to anyone. Does Freet sponsor people. Where do I sign?

Love these shoes!

I’ve been wearing barefoot shoes for about 4 years now. I heard really good things about Freet’s and decided to give them a try and I’m so glad I did! I’ll definitely be ordering more in the future.

Fast delivery, wonderful products as usual. These will be my second and third pairs of Freets (only bc my first pair of Howgills were a little too large, but I kept them bc circumstances with a deadline and after a year of adoring them decided to finally get the proper size). I love this brand it checks all os my boxes and ever pair I've purchased has been comfy out the box. These shoes were comfortable out of the box - nicely snug where they need to be. I took my new Howgills out on a 10 mile walk and they did not disappoint. Can't wait to try the sandals and insoles when I go out on my annual Appalachian Trail birthday backpack next week. I'll likely keep the (old) oversized pair to wear with heavier socks in the winter (as I did this year).

Minimalist Comfort Done Right

The Howgill feels almost like a sock with a sole attached — and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s incredibly flexible, light, and comfortable right out of the box. While the minimal structure won’t suit everyone, the natural feel and easy wear make it a genuinely great barefoot shoe.
