Sizing True (i)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Excellent product, pleased with the purchase and service. The Richmond is an excellent fit and very comfortable to wear, why aren't all shoes like this.
Thanks again.

They look very promising

Having only just taken delivery of these, I can't make a comment - other than to say that they look very promising. However, a comment about sizing may be helpful. Over the years, I have found that an EU size 46 generally fits. It is unusual for me to find a 47 to be a better fit. I already have the Feldom in a 46, and this fits perfectly. With the Richmond, I needed to size up. This meant the shoes was the correct length but would have slightly swamped my narrow feet without the Ortholite insoles (that I'd intended to use anyway). With the insoles, they seem a very good fit).

The Richmond is a nice looking shoe and is very comfortable to wear.

The Richmond is a nice looking shoe and is very comfortable to wear. The sole seems to be the standard Freet on a lot of their shoes so it’s quite grippy in the dry and on stones but a bit over powered by mud or even wet grass. And it’s the wet grass that has highlighted the Richmonds weakness as a useful outdoor shoe I’m afraid. The lace holes are punched right through to the inside of the shoe.. So even though there’s a pretty purposeful sewn in tongue the water goes straight through the lowest of the laces holes!! It’s a real shame for a shoe that is supposed to be water resistant :-/
