Sizing Small (i)

This shoe fits small: consider a larger size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits small to size; if you sometimes have to go up a size, it is more likely that you may need to go up a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All US sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Tundra: not a hiking boot

These boots are really uncomfortable. The actual foot fit is okay, but the tongue design presses excess material into the top of your foot, which hurts. Main issue is that the location and stiffness of the top of the boot wears really hard on your ankle and Achilles. I've tried everything to break these boots in, and I don't think it's possible because they aren't leather. It's really painful. I've been wearing them all day every day as well as hiking on rough terrain for a few hours a day. If anything changes, I'll adjust this post. I'd recommend not buying these for doing anything except standing, sitting down, or walking in straight lines on flat ground.

Also, they squeak like crazy which drives me nuts and makes it impossible to hunt with. I even tried using a little oil, which doesn't work for long. Also, my left boot was clearly put together a little lop sided compared to my right boot. I had high hopes that these would be perfect and I could switch to this brand over Vivo, but I'll have to keep looking. Sorry Freet to leave a negative review, but I'm just really confused about how a boot could be made like this and pass trial tests of people actually hiking in these.

On a side note I've made quite a few leather barefoot boots over the years, so I'm fairly educated on boot fit and construction. Had to stop due to lack of time.

A nice shoe. I have been wearing Peluva toe shoes since February this year, it is early October now, and I needed to find something that would offer my feet freedom but also protection from wet conditions.

I looked around the internet but this brand popped up a couple times on a few reddit threads I was reading. So I checked them out. Overall I am happy with this purchase. They were in my budget and, after buying a size up since they run small, give my feet freedom but allow them to be contained and safe from the weather.

I plan to buy some of their leather based boots next year at their end of summer sale if these do well over the winter here in MI.

Love toe shoes but need something for the winter months

I am a big fan of Peluva for my daily shoe, been getting into this happier feet shoe game since the spring. But as winter approaches I need something with a little more water resistance. If I wear my toe shoes while the meteorologist talks about the chance of rain this week I swear to God my toes start to get damp.

So I have been looking around for a more water proof durable wide toe box and zero drop shoe. It has been a tough search to find something that looks solid but us semi reasonable in price. After looking around reddit for a bit this brand kept popping up so I decided to check them out. Ordered 1 size up, so I got a men's 10, and they fit nicely. Not quite as free as toe shoes but after a couple steps my feet were not uncomfortable at all. It is supposed to rain this weekend, so I look forward to taking these dogs for a run.

It looks comfortable. I will wear it in colder conditions in some weeks.

Adding a title for the reviews

I have been barefoot for a number of years now and have long been a fan of a very famous brand. However, the famous brand boots are NOT waterproof, whatever they say! I live and walk in the NW of England `(our hills and fells are very wet) so I need serious waterproofing and have always sworn by leather boots. Eventually though, various good reviews on social media persuaded me to try Freet. I have Mudees, which I love, but was attracted by the more 'boot like' Tundra. I have not been disappointed.
